Born, one of nine siblings, in the Acres Homes community in 1954, Sylvester Turner was elected Mayor of Houston in 2016. He committed himself to making Houston a place where all Houstonians have the right to improve and move forward together.

For over 60 years, Houston Boychoir has served the Houston community with a single mission at heart, to build men of character through music. We change lives—one boy at a time—but we’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible. Houston Boychoir provides boys with an exemplary music education and the chance to see the world through the eyes of a traveler. Most importantly, Houston Boychoir provides boys with a place to belong and the tools to succeed, fostering the boys and young men who will continue to make Houston a desirable community for business, for families, and for the arts.

For Houston Boychoir, this luncheon provides critical scholarship opportunities so that no boy who meets the musical standards required by the audition process is ever turned away due to an inability to meet the financial obligations.
